Course background
Folk dances are an important part of the tradition of the State of Israel. Its many origins are drawn from the different cultures and social characteristics of the countries where the Jews lived, which over the years have become the dances of a large number of dancers across the country and representative of Israeli culture.
Over time, a multitude of styles related to different periods, geographical areas and different ethnic backgrounds have developed. The different dance styles representing the cultural backgrounds of new immigrants to Israel who brought Hasidic, Yemeni, Kurdish, Druze, Bedouin, Arab, Debka, Pioneer and more dances have enriched the diversity of Israeli dances.
